This is a rare March 1963 issue of London’s “PLAYS and PLAYERS” magazine featuring CYRIL CUSACK and ALAN WEBB on the front cover. They were starring in the Royal Shakespeare Company production of the FRIEDRICH DUERRENMATT play “THE PHYSICISTS” at the Aldwych Theatre in London. (The revival opened January 9th, 1963 and ran for almost four months, closing April 27th, 1963.) ….. The play starred CYRIL CUSACK, IRENE WORTH, MICHAEL HORDERN, ALAN WEBB and DIANA RIGG and featured PATRICIA CONOLLY, CLIVE SWIFT, DORIS HARE, ESMOND BENNETT, JOHN HARWOOD, GORDON HONEYCOMBE, RICHARD ARTHURE, JOHN COBNER, PATIENCE COLLIER, MICHAEL BURRELL, PAUL GREENHALGH, JAN LINDSAY, PIP ROLLS, TONY STEEDMAN, KENNETH GARDNIER and JONATHAN HOLDEN ….. DETAILS: The 68 page magazine measures 8 3/8″ X 11″ inches and includes the wonderful cover photo and a review of the production with four production photos as well as features (with photos) on James Joyce’s “STEPHEN D”, Robin Chapman and Richard Kane’s “HIGH STREET CHINA” (with complete text), Errol John in “OTHELLO” and Gwyn Thomas’ “JACKIE THE JUMPER” ….. CONDITION: With the exception of moderate edge wear, this rare publication is in excellent condition and will make a wonderful addition to any theatre collection. This item will be carefully packaged in a protective sleeve and backed by stiff cardboard.
