This is a rare single page advertising handbill (flyer) promoting the three-day, Post-Broadway engagement of the VICTOR HERBERT and HENRY BLOSSOM musical “THE RED MILL” at the Court Square Theatre in Springfield, Massachusetts beginning April 5th, 1948. (The revival opened October 16th, 1945 at New York’s Ziegfeld Theatre, later moved to the Forty-Sixth Street Theatre and ran for a total of 531 performances before going on the road.) ….. DETAILS: Advertising handbills (heralds) were distributed or inserted into the playbills of other productions to help generate ticket sales for upcoming shows and events. This single page, two-sided handbill measures 5 7/8″ X 9″ inches and includes wonderful graphics and performance dates on the front and an excerpt from a Chicago review on the backside ….. CONDITION: With the exception of light creasing and a small tear on the left edge, this rare handbill is in excellent condition and will make a wonderful addition to the collection of any musical theatre aficionado or historian. This item will be carefully packaged in a protective, carded sleeve and backed by stiff cardboard.

This is a rare unopened May 10th, 1948 (Opening Night) programme (playbill) from the Original West End production of the ROLAND and MICHAEL PERTWEE play “THE PARAGON” at the Fortune Theatre in London. (The production opened May 10th, 1948 and closed September 18th, 1948 after 152 performances.) ….. The ensemble cast included TONY THAWNTON, LOLA DUNCAN, RACHEL KEMPSON, NAN BRAUNTON, ARTHUR WONTNER, WALTER FITZGERALD, ELIZABETH KENTISH, ANTHONY MARLOWE and HUGH BURDEN ….. The second scanned image shows the inside pages from another program as the seal on this program has not been broken ….. This is a rare October 8th, 1945 program (playbill) from the one-week, National Tour engagement of the groundbreaking RICHARD RODGERS and OSCAR HAMMERSTEIN II musical comedy “OKLAHOMA!” at the Shubert Theatre in New Haven, Connecticut. (The production opened March 31st, 1943 at the St. James Theatre in New York City and ran for 2212 performances while simultaneously playing on the road.) …..
