This is a rare December 1995 program (playbill) from the National Tour engagement of the JIM JACOBS and WARREN CASEY musical “GREASE” at the Civic Auditorium in Knoxville, Tennessee. (The revival opened May 11th, 1994 at the Eugene O’Neill Theatre in New York City and ran for 1505 performances while simultaneously playing on the road.) ….. At this performance, understudy SUTTON FOSTER replaced TRISHA M. GORMAN as “Sandy Dumbrowski”. She would make her Broadway debut the following year, joining the cast of “Grease” at the Eugene O’Neill Theatre. The musical starred DEBBIE GIBSON as “Betty Rizzo”, ADRIAN ZMED as “Danny Zuko” and SALLY STRUTHERS as “Miss Lynch” and the cast included KEVIN-ANTHONY, MICHELLE BOMBACIE, ERICK BUCKLEY, STEVE GEYER, TRISHA M. GORMAN, LESLEY JENNINGS, BETH LIPARI, TOM RICHTER, RIC RYDER, NICK SANTA MARIA, AMANDA WATKINS, MARISSA JARET WINOKUR (“Hairspray”), CHRISTOPHER YOUNGSMAN, LAURA J. BARGER, CYNTHIA GRAY, ALAN JENKINS, MARK LANYAN, ROBB McKINDLES, STEFANI RAE, BILL ROLAN, MARY RUVOLO, THOMAS SCOTT, TIMOTHY EDWARD SMITH, STEVEN X. WARD and JOANNA YOUNG ….. Side Note: When the Original Broadway production of Grease closed in 1980, the 3,388 performance run was the longest in Broadway history, although it was surpassed by A Chorus Line a few years later. It went on to become a West End hit, a hugely successful film, and was followed by two successful Broadway revivals in 1994 and 2007. (Wikipedia) ….. CONDITION: With the exception of minor edge wear, this rare playbill is in excellent condition and will make a wonderful addition to the collection of any musical theatre aficionado or historian. This item will be carefully packaged in a protective, carded sleeve and backed by stiff cardboard.
