This is a rare “Curtain Time” Fireside Theatre insert promoting the Book Club’s hardcover selection for the month of January 1973: The Original Broadway script of the JIM JACOBS and WARREN CASEY hit musical “GREASE”. (The production opened February 14th, 1972 at the Eden Theatre in New York City, moved on June 7th, 1972 to the Broadhurst Theatre and finally settled into the Royale Theatre on November 21st, 1972 for over seven years, running for 3388 performances.) ….. The cast included BARRY BOSTWICK as “Danny Zuko”, CAROLE DEMAS as “Sandy Dumbrowski” and ADRIENNE BARBEAU as “Rizzo” and featured DON BILLETT, WALTER BOBBIE, JIM BORRELLI, JAMES CANNING, KATIE HANLEY, TOM HARRIS, ILENE KRISTEN, DOROTHY LEON, TIMOTHY MEYERS, KATHI MOSS, ALAN PAUL, MARYA SMALL and GARN STEPHENS ….. Side Note: When Grease closed in 1980, the 3,388 performance run was the longest in Broadway history, although it was surpassed by A Chorus Line a few years later. It went on to become a West End hit, a hugely successful film, and was followed by two successful Broadway revivals in 1994 and 2007. (Wikipedia) …..
