A vintage dance flyer for a dance event of April 30, 1940 being held at the Ukrainian Ballroom on State Street in Perth Amboy, NJ. The dance is sponsored by the Frank Massopust Sporting Club with Music by Al Kalla & His W.O.R Orchestra. Flyer is 4 pages and list area business, boosters and words to some of the songs that will play at the dance. Flyer measures approx. 12” x 9” is in good condition considering its age with a few folds and a tear on its back page. Flyer can be easily frames with a little tender care. Duke Ellington. Calling itself a “Sun-Tanned Revue-sical,” Duke Elllington’s “Jump for Joy” was lightning in a bottle. It was an original musical show — in 1941! — that had an all-Black cast and orchestra, daring to bare its social conscience by lampooning the rampant racism of the era.

Excellent lot of 2 photos signed by Eartha Kitt and Pearl Bailey! And don’t forget the leopard! ACTUAL SIGNATURES! Both were actresses and singers. (Kitt actually played Catwoman in the campy Batman TV Series from the 60s). Kitt photo is about 5×7 inches, and Bailey is about 8×10 inches. Bailey’s is a publicity still from the William Morrow Agency. As shown. Lot of 2 SIGNED by legendary Black women performers! Eartha Kitt and Pearl Bailey! Real autographs! Generally minor to moderate wear. Bailey has a bit more wear and some tanning to edges. Kitt has minor writing to the blank back, some wrinkling to the bottom third of the photo and a ding to the bottom right corner.
