Up for sale is an exceptionally rare, intact piece of classic Hollywood ephemera: the complete 14-page vintage typeset layout/gallery proof manuscript for the prose adaptation of Warner Brother’s legendary film REBEL WITHOUT A CAUSE. This specific narrative text was adapted directly from the screenplay by author Marcia Lawrence for publication in the Oct. 1955 issue of Dell’s Screen Stories magazine. Produced by the studio/publisher right before the tragic passing of James Dean and the film’s subsequent theatrical release, this text represents a fascinating transition step between the master shooting script and the final public promotional print.
