This is a rare die-cut advertising herald (flyer) promoting ticket sales for the one-week, Post-Broadway engagement of the EDWARD CHILDS CARPENTER comedy "THE BACHELOR FATHER" at the American Theatre in St. Louis, Missouri beginning February 18th, 1929. (The Original Broadway production opened February 28th, 1928 at the Belasco Theatre in New York City and ran for 263 performances before going on the road.) ..... The play starred JUNE WALKER, C. AUBREY SMITH and GEOFFREY KERR and the cast included GEORGE RIDDELL, DAVID GLASSFORD, VIOLA ROACHE, REX O'MALLEY, HARRIETT LORRAINE, ADRIANA DORI, HOWARD BOUTON, MARYLAND JARBEAU, KITTY GRAY and THOMAS REYNOLDS ..... CREDITS: Book by EDWARD CHILDS CARPENTER; Incidental Music composed by EDWIN LUDIG; Costumes designed by PEGGY HOYT and BOUE SOEURS; Produced and Directed by DAVID BELASCO ..... This four page flyer measures 5 1/8" X 7" inches, has a die-cut cover and includes beautiful graphics, production credits, a rendering of producer DAVID BELASCO, excerpts from a number of New York reviews, performance dates and promotional text ..... CONDITION: With the exception of minor edge wear, this rare flyer is in excellent condition and will make a wonderful addition to the collection of any theatre aficionado or historian. This item will be carefully packaged in a protective, carded sleeve and backed by stiff cardboard.
