This is a rare playbill from the Monmouth Arts Foundation production of the JIM JACOBS and WARREN CASEY musical "GREASE" in Freehold, New Jersey. (The Original Broadway production opened February 14th, 1972 at the Eden Theatre, moved on June 7th, 1972 to the Broadhurst Theatre and finally settled into the Royale Theatre November 21st, 1972 for over seven years, running for 3388 performances while simultaneously playing on the road.) ..... The cast included PETER GALLAGHER as "Danny Zuko" (the role he would eventually play on Broadway), GAIL EDWARDS as "Sandy Dumbrowski" and NITA NOVY as "Rizzo" and featured IMOGENE BLISS, PATRICIA DOUGLAS, DUFFI, MARY GARRIPOLI, STEPHEN M. GROFF, KELLY ST. JOHN, LINDA LYONS, ANN-NGAIRE MARTIN, RANDY POWELL, JAMES REMAR, MICHAEL RINEY, DAN WOODWARD and STEVE YUDSON ..... Side Note: When Grease closed in 1980, the 3,388 performance run was the longest in Broadway history, although it was surpassed by A Chorus Line a few years later. It went on to become a West End hit, a hugely successful film, and was followed by two successful Broadway revivals in 1994 and 2007. (Wikipedia) .....
