The lobby card (also known as Front of House/ FOH card in the UK) was created by the film studios to publicise the movie and was intended for display outside the movie theatre in special glass display boxes. This is a rare advertising handbill (flyer) promoting the Original Broadway production of the British musical import “PICKWICK” at the 46th Street Theatre in New York City. (The production opened October 4th, 1965 and closed after only 56 performances.) ….. The musical starred HARRY SECOMBE and featured CHARLOTTE RAE, ROY CASTLE, ANTON RODGERS, PETER BULL, JULIAN ORCHARD, OSCAR QUITAK, JOHN CALL, MICHAEL LOGAN, HELENA CARROLL, MICHAEL DARBYSHIRE, TONY SYMPSON, NANCY BARRETT, NANCY HAYWOOD, SYBIL SCOTFORD and ELIZABETH PARRISH ….. CREDITS: Book by WOLF MANKOWITZ; Music by CYRIL ORNADEL; Lyrics by LESLIE BRICUSSE; Sets designed by SEAN KENNY; Costumes designed by ROGER FURSE and PETER RICE; Choreographed by GILLIAN LYNNE; Directed by PETER COE; Produced by DAVID MERRICK….. DETAILS: Advertising handbills (heralds) were distributed or inserted into the playbills of other productions to help generate ticket sales for upcoming shows and events. This single page, two-sided handbill measures 6″ X 9″ inches and includes wonderful graphics and excerpts from a number of New York reviews on the front and a reprinted review from the “New York Daily News” on the backside ….. CONDITION: With the exception of minor edge wear, this rare handbill is in excellent condition and will make a wonderful addition to the collection of any musical theatre aficionado or historian. This item will be carefully packaged in a protective, carded sleeve and backed by stiff cardboard.

This is being sold strictly as a collectors’ item from one collector to another and no rights are transferred or implied.
